No, palmistry is a system, basically, of fortune-telling.
Hand analysis goes into the factors such as those I specified
in my Post on DNA, and provides reams of information about the
person whose hand is in question.
Hands do not reveal the future - they are a recording of what
has been and what is now.
If a palm reader gets a 'future' idea, it's certain they're not
using the hand!
Also, hand analysis is a research program, not one in which you
do 'readings'. Because of this it is very appealing to physicians
and educators.
It also operates best by print only, and you never have to see
or meet the person whose handprint is in question.
I did three books on the subject for Berkley Putnam, because it
is a hobby of mine which they saw as a money-maker; yet because
they refused to print the individual handprints on a page by themselves
so that they could be seen clearly, (although this was in the
contract) it was a big problem for the readers. So - no more books.....
My next book (June) will be on antique inkwells and fountain pens
and office equipment - a co-authorship with my husband on an all-consuming
hobby of mine (and his) and one in which we can control what each
page contains......
But to answer your question, Hand Analysis is a very very distant
cousin of palmistry.
